I'm looking for commentary on other sleds you've owned/ridden from the 70's-early 80's that have that "wow" or "fun" factor. JD is my first love, as that is what we had as kid's in the early 80's and have many great memories, but who says you shouldn't check out the competition once in a while. So, since I've only really experienced JD sleds, what other production sleds should I check out and why?

If you could add a comment as to the general availability [(A) easy to find, (B) harder to find, but show up from time to time or (C) nearly impossible to find) that would be great too.

I realize this a very subjective topic, but since you guys have been great in sharing your JD experiences and expertise I thought maybe you'd have a thought or two to share.

Thanks everyone!

I will always have a soft spot for the ugly duckling Snow Cruisers. They are out there, mostly neglected as they are slow heavy and a little different looking. That and the 72 644 Merc Hurricane as I think they are an attractive sled, they are out there but seem to all have a cooked motor.

I grew up with Arctic Cats from the early 70's, that is where my memories are, especially the Panthers. They are easy to find and cheap, and often over looked because they are so common. Even to this day they are often not considered classics, but utilitarian machines. Well built, rock solid, always work or fixable. el Tigres also. The Kawasaki free air is the only free air you would have a hard time burning up.
