hey guy's whats up. um just woundering since spring is just around the corner i was woundering when i go to store my snowmobile, um i didn't put any fuel stabelizer in the tank before i rode it for the last time and i was woundering if when you store it if you could just pinch the lines off and run it until it shuts down so that their is nothing in the carbs to gum anything up for next year. would that be ok?
:huh: I also thought maybe trading my snowmobile for either a spitfire or a liquifire 440 do you know were i could get a good liquifire 440 or spitfire in trade for my 300. nothing is really wrong with my 300 i just thought it would be kinda cool to upgrade a little bit
as far as the off season storage goes I woulf just drain the tank an then on the bottom of the carbs if they are mikuni carbs there is a nut on that you can remove to drain the float bowl an as far as sled up grades check the classified sections you can generaly find a good deal there F.Y.I I was told that it is good practice to go thru your carb or carbs at the beginning of every riding season they arnt that hard to clean just my thoughts hope this helps
You have a 300, so I'll give you my thoughs on the early models:
Many people have different methods of winterizing. Personally: I add the approiate amount of stabilizer to the tank. The more fuel in it at the time, the better. A little bit of gas will go stale faster then a full tank. After I add the stabilizer, I will let them idle for about 5 minutes so the stabilizer moves through the carb. I shut it down, pull the plugs, and pour some 2-stroke oil into the cylinders so they soak. I don't drain any of it. Come fall, after some fresh plugs, it will start in a few pulls.
If you have a machine with mikunis, I do think it is a good idea to drain the bowls.
It is also a good idea to loosen the track and remove the drive belt.
For me, It's just easier to start them up every couple of weeks & let them run for 5 to 10 min. if stored with the track up then you can rev them so it turns the track also keeping it plyable, the chain lubed & the bearings turning over.
Remember if possible to store the sled out of direct sunlight.
