'74 300 Wiring Question

Post by wycrumb »

Here is a picture of the plug from a '74 300 stator. I am wondering if it is correct and why the yellow lighting coil wires run into the same terminals as the green ignition coil wires?

Thanks!!

One wire per terminal, last time I looked. I think that has been messed with. :bonk:

The two yellow wires should be at the top of the block.
A brown ground wire is in the middle row, along with an empty hole.
The bottom two holes in the plug have the ignition wires.

So the green coil wires do nothing?

The green ones are ( apparently ) your ignition wires to the coils. The book shows them as red and white in the wiring diagram, but in the Kohler section shows them as black, perhaps one with a white stripe. What color are they beyond the tape?

You got a scary looking connector there Wyatt.

I would go over the entire wire harness with a fine tooth comb as the SPO may have left you more surprises. :bonk:

Maybe he figured if he hooked up the lighting coil to the ignition coils he would get hotter spark. :silenced:

This came on my ebay stator plate apparently from a jd 300, I have met the guy who sold it so i believe him, my wiring on my sled is mint, this connector was not mint and maybe the fact that the coil wires are connected to the lighting coils is why the brown wire got fried?
I was just wondering if this wiring configuration was a deere thing of if it works somehow, I am guessing not, thanks for the info guys, always good answers!!
