Ohio registration question.....

Post by JD_Sledder68 »

I was just reading the online documentation regarding licensing/registration of snowmobiles and APV's in the state of Ohio and it makes no mention of how to register a snowmobile without a dealer issued title. Far as I can tell this machine has been passed down at least 3 times through private owner sales (no paperwork trail either).

It does still have an Ohio 2003 registration decal and a Michigan 2001 Trail permit on it. The Ohio decal means that somehow it had been registered in Ohio previously.

Merry Christmas to everyone on the site!! :dance:

Try going to your local DMV facility. They may be able to help you with paper work. In Illinois we can download the paper work from the DNR site.

Found this right after I posted earlier:

Two or more of the following:

* A required out-of-state inspection obtained from a Deputy Registrar license agency;
* A sworn, notarized affidavit declaring ownership of the vehicle by the applicant;
* A sworn, notarized affidavit by other persons attesting to applicant's ownership;
* Receipts in applicant's name from the purchase of parts or components;
* Photographs and or pencil tracings of the VIN.

#1 is out, as it has always resided in Ohio
#2, #3 and #5 Look to be do-able
#4 I could do if they would accept receipts for a gasket kit, ski runner wear bars, and a spare headlight bulb!! :)

A Bill of Sale is a good document to have on any sled purchase even if it is only a parts sled.
