As we close out 2009 and hope for better times in 2010 PLEASE remember to stay safe out on the trails and roadways. I'm always saddened to see articles like this...
Man killed in snowmobile crash near Tomahawk
By The Associated Press
Dec. 27, 2009 | Town of Bradley - A 22-year-old Oxford man has died in a snowmobile crash in the Town of Bradley outside of Tomahawk in northern Wisconsin.
Lincoln County authorities say the crash was reported about 4:45 a.m. Sunday.
The victim's snowmobile left a roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.
The county says the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating, and considers speed and alcohol as contributing factors.

Re: Stay safe
I saw basically the same story for a 27 year old in my town last week. Riding at night, especially when you don't know where you are riding, is dangerous.

I agree Matt, usually when me and some buddys ride at night around places we don't know we always ride slow and on the way back we ride hard.Matt wrote:I saw basically the same story for a 27 year old in my town last week. Re: Stay safe
I have a strict no drinking and riding policy. I won't have a single drop as long as I'm out on the trail. I've ridden with too many people that think it's ok to get boozed up and ride. We've had way too many close calls over the years. Besides, Mountain Dew and Mushroom/Swiss burgers are possibly the best snowmobiling diet out there. There's just something about a cold mountain dew after a long day's ride that really hits the spot. So far in our area we've had no snowmobile accidents to speak of this year. This area is huge for vacationers and there's always someone every year who doesn't know the area that decides to have a few too many and run the Gull Lake as fast as they can not knowing about the 4 or 5 giant pressure ridges that span almost the whole lake in spots. Be safe on the sleds tonight and out on the road. $20 for a cab is better than any alternative. I'll be partying out in the shop tonight with several cups of coffee and the good old Dewalt cordless impact.
