Had a good day of riding here thanks to a good old SNOW DAY...It's days like this I am glad I chose to be a teacher! The liquifire ran great until the ski fell off due to a bad bolt, but was a quick fix and ready to go!! Got to love these machines, it is always something!

Had a great day here too. Took a "snow day" mself from work just so I could hit the bean fields. Took out three different machines, 80 Liquifire, 78 Cyclone 440 and my favorite the 77 Liquifire 440. All ran flawlessly. I did notice I don't have lights on the 80 LF, so I guess there is always something. Wind is brutal tonight tho, wind chill is killer.

rmreid,
I had the same problem with my 80LF and after looking closely the wiring harness going to the head light had gotten too close to the exhaust and melted. After I cut out the bad piece and added some heat shrink and extra zip-ties to get it out of the way it is fine...don't know if this is your problem but thought I would share my experience, sometimes it is just the little things!

Re: Illinois members.
Thanks Keith. I don't have tailight either. It must be a bad ground because they were working this fall when I was prepping the sled, the last snow we had they were working but now nothing. Part of the problem might be that there was a crapload of snow under the hood today, wind brought it right in, maybe something is wet? Not the kind of night to be out working on it.
Re: Illinois members.
yep yesterday was a blast. we got about 7" here. had to deal with a froze open throttle, good thing i got the brake working!! no headlight here either, something to work on. I'll check the wiring. thanks for the tip.

Re: Illinois members.
Just a couple of thoughts on lighting issues....
The pigtail connector on the tailights can be the problem of a no lights issue. If one of the wires breaks loose from the pin on the backside of the socket waffer and shorts out you will losse all lights.
Same goes for the indicator sockets on the tach/speedo gauges. A frayed wire on the contact touching the metal part of the socket will take out all lights on the sled.
All pierced, pinched, squished, melted or barred wire on any hot conductor anywhere in the harness will take out all the lights.
Some areas to check closely are any wires near exhaust or muffler. Keep in mind when you raise teh hood the wires may be clear of the heat source but when you lower the hood they can make contact.
Wires under the seat or tank can get damaged from rubbing betwwen the plywood and the tunnel or the gas tank and tunnel.
Wires near the jackshaft, secondary or or brake disc can come into contact with a moving part when the sled is jostled around on the trail.
Also make sure that the dimmer switch wires are not frayed where the twist on the steering post.
And with the X's and 00's look for flakey toggle light switches and if you have electric start check the contacts on the ignition switch.
