drag race 440 78 liquifires

Post by lwb140 »

so i responded to an add for some jd sleds , there turned out to be 9 all together 3 of which are 78 440 liquifires 2 of which supposedly have been drag raced , appear to be pretty much stock exept for they have aftermarket header pipes and lift off hoods with a center single hood pin anxious to get them home and looked over but kind of a neat find. ill get some pics posted soon also was an 83 liquifire 76 cyclone es ,80 liquifire and parts sleds include a 76 liquifire another 80 liquifire , i think thats 9 anyway pics to fallow wade

heres a few bad pics of them looks like the main modification is the header pipes on two of them , i guess im trying to figure out if these sleds represent any historical significance or if they are just some beat up sleds with headers give me your thoughts ,i had been considering buying a set of pipes for my dator project but i thought id just scarf a set off of on of these sleds as well as a suspension and maybe a motor and radiator and more wade

Wade,

Are those ENDO pipes? I have a set off a mod 76 Liquifire. It came with a Dator seat, ski stabilizers and an alumium rear ski and an amost new 2/3rd cleated track. She has some neat race history. Point is I wouldn't discount your sleds until you find out more about them.

very cool looking sleds, looks like they have some history and or stories in them, any idea if they were ice raced or grass dragged?, either way very cool finds

Wade,

Image enterprises and Aaen performance both suggest port work on the KEC 23/lc motors for pipes. The suggestion gave the mills 60 + hp. If either of the mills recieved that treatment, those sleds would be really neat to put on a track. Boy, neat sleds have a way of finding you! Good Job.
