Need Wiring Diagram-1976 400

Post by Sledshack »

Hey Guys !

I am having some electrical problems with my new '76 400. The wiring diagram on the home page for the '75 & '76 models seems to be way different than what I have.

Somebody made a spaghetti dinner of the harness and I need a good diagram for this particular sled with the right color wires and where they go to.

Thanks !

It' should the same as the 1974 models except you have CDI ignition and the light switch may only have 2 wires. Maybe someone with SM2100 can look it up.

Thanks Guy's,
The two wiring diagrams I took from the vintagesnow site and then checked them here (same thing). I printed off the '74 & the '75-'76 and they do not seem correct for this sled. I wonder why the discrepancy ? None of the wire colors are right on the diagrams and this thing is a mess.

What is SM2100 ?

SM2100 is a Service Manual - which might not help unless it was one printed after 1975. I'll check mine. Anyone have a '76 or '77 400 service manual? That might be the only one that applies.

Hey Guys, I no longer need the wiring diagram. I have solved the problem. I transplanted the complete engine and wiring harness from a '73 400 that I bought for parts. I know I kinda went backwards, going to a points style engine but that's OK with me :mrgreen: . Everything works perfectly and it runs like a champ.

Now, if we would get some more snow here in S.E. WI, I'd be good to go :letitsnow:

Thanks everybody :beers;
