Tried disconnecting the speed limiter the other day, didnt make any difference. They're assembled correctly, I've had the tops off multiple times trying different e clip grooves, with only minor changes.

Then try a known good CDI. If that doesn't fix it, I am out of suggestions. Wish you luck. They are great sleds when working right.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it.

I took it out this afternoon. Its 40 degrees outside, so quite a bit warmer than before. This time it ran up to 7k, and only dropped to 6.5k.

Another thing; while not having my helmet on, warming it up going around the yard, there is a rattle from the clutch, probably just quiet enough not to hear with the bucket on. I looked closer, and the buttons that keep the spider centered are wore pretty good on the one side. The weights are hitting on the cast, and are not centered on the rollers. This may be the problem. Now I need a puller tool.

I've got another stock 1980 LF primary clutch and a clutch puller tool here for you to try out and to borrow if you want them, just cover shipping to your place. I'll need your old primary clutch and my puller back right away though as soon as you swap them out, as I need them both for another Kawasaki engine powered 2-seater buggy I'm working on, where we're ready for the clutch to fit the engine into the frame.

Like I've said to you all along on the phone and via emails.... I'll bet it's in the clutching somewhere, as it always is it seems with these sleds, but one can only lead a horse to water... :wall:

Let me know.
