Need pic of Cyclone fuel lines

Can someone please share a picture of "correct/original" fuel lines from the fuel tank to the carb on a '76 Cyclone? I am in need of new lines and would like to keep the original look if possible. Did JD use a fuel shut off near the tank outlet?

Another new question: What kind of fuel lines did JD use? Typical clear snowmobile lines or did they use conventional black automotive lines. Mine still has the original shut-off valve and some black automotive type fuel lines. There is even a molded elbow after the valve. I can see the previous owner did some handyman work and it now has mismatched lines but I suspect that the elbow maybe original. What do you guys think?

The 76/77 Cyclone did have a fuel shut-off valve. I don't think any of the original valves have survived the time. Here is a picture that shows an aftermarket valve a few inches after the tank fitting behind brake caliper. The line then drapes down and passes thru a hose clip mounted to the top of the tunnel. From there the line goes to fuel pump bolted to the engine base plate. Don't forget that there is a filter inside the tank attached to the back side of the tank fiiting with about 12 inches of fuel line.

That's funny...I guess mine has survived the test of time...that being said it will be leaking when I go outside, but yes about 4-6" off the tank is the shut off valve and then loops over to a filter on mine then the carb.

Had the fuel system out of a 77 440 I just picked up. The first 2 are of the original shut off, and the third is of the fitting from tank to filter.

Hey guys,

Has anyone ever checked with Deere on these? They were also used on the 65, 66, and 68 riding mowers, so it just might be that the OEM part is still avalible.

I'm sure I have seen those on lawn equipment, just can't peg exactly what I have seen them on, but I would say their fairly common still.

Not to hijack but could someone post a pic of the original snowflap, tail light lens and grab bumper from a 77 Cyclone? mine is missing all of that and want to start looking for parts....so amazed, bought it off another member that had it sitting awhile threw some gas in it yesterday and she fired right up...been ridign it for 2 days, no serious issue

You can still get a fuel shutoff from Deere but it's a quarter turn (off/on) and plastic. I put one on my 340/S but when Kevin (kwc) began testing the sled he found it was too restrictive.

You should be able to go to the restoration or picture section on the front page of www.jdsleds.com and find a picture of the rear end of my Cyclone. Or, look for Horicon Joe (Wanie) post about his repro flaps as there's a picture there too. If you don't find one, email me at bison1112002@yahoo.com and I'll send you a picture.

Thanks, I looked in there but never realized you could click on the pics and open up more. Now all I have to do is hope someone has some cyclone parts at the swap in Waconia, although I could make that bumper fairly easily, and I think my one spitfire has that snowflap on it from the previous owner....so just need engine cowling, belt guard and air box

I did notice that the factory brochure picture on David's Vintage Sled site shows a '76 Cyclone with a chrome bumper/passenger handle but mine has the two (broken) plastic passenger handles. Did they come out with the chrome later? What's the scoop on that?
