340 ignition coil wire

Post by webman »

Is it possible to replace the spark plug wire on a 76 ignition coil, or must I purchase a new coil? Both wires have holes, one badly, that someone though electrical tape could fix.

340 what? some can on certain coils, but the ones on the kohler and kawi's you can't, but you can get a special connector to replace parts of the wire, so if it's good a few inches from the coil then you cut and splice in new wire with one of these connectors...should be able to find one pretty easy any place that sells old sled parts.....even Canadian tire has them in the sled section in Brandon....made by NGK...and then get the NGK wires they sell that are ready to be spliced in.

Webman,
If you are refering to the 76 coils used on the Kiortz 340 with CDI, no you can not replace the wires. You will need to replace the whole coil. There was a set on Ebay not long ago.

i used the NGK wire splicers on my Kawasaki KZ1000 street bike to fix bad wires. the wires were integrated to the coils. less than 5 bucks each, much cheaper than replacing everything. been working good for a couple of years now.
