stator ohm values

Post by buddyc »

Anyone out there with a 80 lf be willing to get some ohm readings from there stator for me??I seen in the faqs section someone knew some readings from an 83 i think,i believe he went from red lead to case and white to case. Then from red to white.I've got a digital multimeter i set on 400 ohm and got a reading of 119.6 ohms red to case(ground).I got a reading of 142.0 white to case, and 22.1 ohms red to white.I've been having problems with this thing for awhile and i don't know if this is my problem either. If anyone knows if these are good numbers or not i would appreciate any help.I'm still getting spark to the plugs but i'm getting backfire at the carbs and won't start back up when engine is warm.I don't think it's in carburetion but could be.I've got a stator from an 82 and readings on that one are red to case 206.6,white to case163.2,red to white 43.8 ohms. What i have here is a 80lf the original engine blew up found an 82 engine that didn't have cdi /coil pack.so i used 80 ignition system on 82 engine. From what i was told this will work.Any help with this would be appreciated!!

I grabbed a stator from an '80 Liquifire that I have on the bench. The Stator is out of the motor so my readings are to the backing plate not the case. Red to backing plate 124.8, white to backing plate 147.3, Red to white 23.2. So I would say that your readings seem to be ok.

Hey murray appreciate you checking your stator for me.I also found out today that you have to check the ac volts output of the coils by cranking engine over.Should have 40 volts ac red to case and 4 volts ac red to white while cranking engine over.
