took the steering post to class today and use a pipe cutter to cut the steering post clean so now ill be in search of a 4 bolt steering post that i can fabricate to fit the steerign post off the deere, and i took the mini grinder with a brillow pad and cleaned it up as well
Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone

Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
after i got looking the belly pan is spot welded to the tunnel, i thought it was rivited, are the liquifires the same way as the cyclone i have where it is spot welded wrather than rivited together? well anyways i got the dash assembly off and the dash vents so thats whats next for cleaning up
Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
i think they are all welded ,it would be messy to take them apart just to clean up ,id think but just me, some stripper and a pocket full of quarters at the car wash and id think you could get it pretty well cleaned up but like i said thats just me wade

Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
yeah i will have to get some more engine degreaser, a brush and use a garden hose to blast away most of the dirt and grease, then use some of the paint stripper that you apply with a brush and i think you would be able to hose it right of with a pressure washer it seems, the chassis is going to be painted the same color as the dator shade of green im thinking, heres the latest progress i got done tonight cleaning up the dash panel and removing the paint

Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
thanks, i have a couple dash assemblys that im trying to decide what gauges i have are the best for it, then ill have to find a temp guage for it, not sure if it will actuall be functional of just for looks on the outside, hopefully ill be able to sell my dodge ram, and my quad buy summer so ill have $$ to put into the build
Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
You may be able to find an EGT gauge to fit in the whole or a cylinder head temp gauge. The EGT would be nice for tuning purposes

Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
thats true im sure i could fab a set of EGT guages in the expansion part of the exhaust chambers or would it be better to put them closer up to the header pipes for a more accurate reading?

Re: My JD Dator/ oval clone
EGT probes typically go in the exhaust manifold, a precise distance from the center of the piston or edge of exhaust port. Instructions should come with the gauge.
