For gits and shiggles

Post by Danzig »

I have a 440 F/C Suzuki engine out of a 87 AC Jag..runs perfect.

Do ya think it may bolt right into a 73 JDX 8?

No. (But it could be done)

Now to plant an even more evil idea: A 55 hp 76-78 Liquifire 440 motor would bolt right in...(except the carbs would be angled down a bit, but I am sure you could take care of that)

Scott:

Think 75 800 or JDX-8 exhaust...not that the Watersboy and I haven't talked about making a 75 JDX-8LC in the past, just never got too it. Would be cool to see one on the VC next year!

Liquifire tunnel mounted heat exhangers should handle the cooling. Not much room for a radiator up front with that twisted pipe up there.

Good luck with it!

I have a straight 75 600 chasis with a large hole cut in the tunnel available and a 75 JDX pipe but was wondering about tring to make a pipe as I am just finishing up a welding coarse and would like to put my new skills to use. I was thinking the wider chasis would be an asset when increasing the power. I had a bad experence on a 800 last winter, machine was fine but I was a little sore the next day.

I always figured a free air kohler in an early cyclone chasis with a dator hood would be great and could have theoretically have been done. I think a 650 from a speedway would be alot of fun in the Deere or maybe a king kat 800 motor?

I put a 78 Liquifire engine into a 73 JDX8 and used a 800 pipe on it without the
muffler on the end. It sounds and runs great. It is the WETX now. As soon as I can I will
post some pictures of it. It won a trophy at the Balls Beater Run this year. It looks
almost like it was ment to be, something the factory had built. My wife came up with
WETX and had decals made to look like the x series sleds have.

Was there any issues with clearance for the carbs? Did you install filters of some sort?

To have carb clearance I had to remove the glove box and for air cleaners I just installed aluminum air intakes
that mount with a hose clamp. The only part of the engine that shows is the resivoir and cap. Had to trim a cover
for that. Ron

Good to know, I will have to consider that if I start the project.
