78 liquifire

Post by smitfire »

i had the crank in the parts washer and i noticed the 2 middle seals, one of the springs that is on the seal fell off,
looks like that needs to be fixed?

any ideas on what to do?
is there a 2 piece seal?
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

Cleaning solvent is not friendly with rubber seals. More than likely they are damaged. The only way to replace them is to send the crank out to be split apart. There is no 2 piece seal available for the /23 Lc engine.

If it was from one of the middle seals then you will have to have someone like Crankshaft services ( one of the site sponsors ) Break down the crank to replace the center seals / rebuild the crank..
Good thing you found it, as the motor wouldn't run right with out that spring on the seal, You would have wasted a lot of your time doing the job twice

I have found many broken springs on center seals in engines. Any brand of engine.

And Kenny is absolutley correct... They will not run worth a hoot with a bad center seal.

You either have to have it rebuilt (professionaly) or find a donor crank/engine.
