i have a briggs and straton engine fairly new that i judt got to run and when i was driving it for the first bit it wasnt bad but now it starts to cut out like its running out of fuel but its not i think my fuel line valve is in the wrong position or is my fuel filter clogged any help would be great

if it is the suction type carb, there is a screen in the bottom of the suction tube that could be clogged with rust from the tank

how do i know its suction ? in the midle of the fuel ling it goes to the botom side of the motor and theres a vlave wit 3 various positions and another hose coming out of it so what position should it be in?

It sounds like you have a float carb. Is it was a suction carb, the carb would be mounted directly on top of the fuel tank. It also sounds it is a slant cylinder engine and if i remember right the valve would be stright down to be open and allow fuel to flow. The valve I thinking of is right down near the bottom of the eng on the fan shroud and theres an "o" in the middle and 2 "c" on the either side of the "o" (open and closed)
