340/S Timing Ring

Can the red/white/black wires from the timing ring to the CDI module be cut and spliced with butt connectors?

I see no reason they could not but I would solder them and use some shrink tubing DA.

Unless you need to be able to unplug them than I would use a solder type waterproof mating connector.

My most immediate need is to change out CDI's without removing any more wire than I have to. Secondly, by using butt connectors I could use a redundant CDI in case of failure. (The funny part here is that I don't have another good CDI LOL).

Don I would have to go along with Todd, the Butt connector deal isn't the best choice, Vibrations, corrosion, etc. will make them lose contact..

DK trader has the presolite boxes two for $60.00. Cheap!!
And they have the pickup also at $3.50 if you can believe that.
