Wade,

I think it would be cool. Here would be my suggestion: 75 JDX-4 for the newer body, 76 340 Liquifire motor mid mounted, all flat blitz black with a touch a grey strips to hint of the 76 LF. Just my thoughts, and good luck!

All good ideas.

I'd go with a '74 JDX chassis. You get the slide suspension, and keep the correct hood design.

The '75 re-design has grown on me a bit, but I personally still prefer the '72-'74 styling.

The fan cooled engine would be less work to install, the liquid cooled idea more Wow!

live it up!

Brian,

Joe and I have had the "liquid cooled midmount" for some time...It seems to be a sickness that just won't cure itself until it comes to fruition. The midmount hotrod project sounds cool no matter how you do it, I like Joe's color scheme ideas for the JDX-liquid

Wade,

I would suggest the 75 JDX-8 or Model 800 pipe set up. Lots more common than a 295/s and sized for a 440.

OK, here is another really bad idea: 78 Cyclone or Liquifire aluminum rear skid...

the hook is set ,i have to do it . ordered decals and windshield today ,found 800 pipe . so do i use the flat seat or the cyclone style with the hump on the back , my x4 has a flat seat but having second thoughts on using it .also what about grab handles im thinking the plastic 76-77 type and ditching the chromies !! cant wait wade

The 72 chrome rear bumper looks good.
But if you are going black and grey that maybe the black 72 bumper would be the ticket.

Chrome grab bars and original seat keep more of the original JDX look. Imagine the picture of the yellow 32 ford pickup rodded out with straight pipes out the side of the hood! In fact, instead of the 800 pipe, how about straight pipes out each side of the hood sweeping towards the running boards! Montana pipes?

Sounds like a sweet project. I have been collecting parts for my own custom mid-mount. So far I got '78 liquifire rear suspension, KEC 440-22 engine, 800 exhaust system, and a 295/S missing its engine and rear suspension. Not sure what direction I am going to take mine yet but I can't wait to see how yours turns out.
