i just had a couple of questions about making more hp out of a Kioritz KEC-440/22A
i was told that if i were to switch the single carb set up to a dual 32mm? carb set up off from a liquifire including, carbs, reeds, and intake boots etc...
if i were to completely rebuild the motor with all new crank bearings, seals etc... would it be worth it to buy an extra pair of stock bore cylinders and get a mild race porting?....what all kinds of porting is there?
i know its a dumb question but what all stuff could i do to get the most hp outta the f/c 440 motor? if money wasn't a big factor.....or on a budget build of under $1000 for the motor, like shaving the heads, porting etc....?
thanks guys

Re: Producing more HP out of a Kioritz KEC-440/22A
i would think that a dual carb set-up would be an improvement . hopefully someone will jump in here and discuss porting but i think the porting on these motors is very conservative and would probably benefit from a port job, there shouldnt be any reason you couldnt make a 22a run as well as a 23a i would think liquifire carb jetting would be a good place to start wade

Peter (that girl racing) I belive has commented on this in the past. If he is around, I think he should be able to shed some light on this also.

The dual carbs on the early Liquifire are 34 mm, same size as the Cyclone just 1 more carb and different jetting. The manifold is a direct bolt-on, no need to change the reeds. This is a common conversion. The jetting for the 440LC Liquifire is a good starting point but use the jetting specific to the year engine. The carb specs are different between the 76 to 77/78 series.liquidatorkid wrote:i just had a couple of questions about making more hp out of a Kioritz KEC-440/22A

If you want more low-end power, change the gearing in the chaincase.
These vintage engines are getting hard to get parts for. If you want a faster sled with more horse-power, consider getting a more modern sled.

I agree with Harley, if you want more HP look for a newer model.. You'll be spending a LOT of Money for very little HP increase doing a engine MOD to a Kioritz engine. Spend your money on clutching & gearing if you want to say with the F/C Kioritz

Re: Producing more HP out of a Kioritz KEC-440/22A
i bought a liquifire jug on ebay last winter that someone spent A TON of time on polishing and porting both on transfer ports and exhaust been going to try and measure exhaust port heighth etc . it may be a door stop but it looks nice having said that i little time on polishing insides may gain a little but would be easy to overdo it wade

Re: Producing more HP out of a Kioritz KEC-440/22A
best bet if you dont know what your doing would be to deburr ports and gasket match them, also the exhaust manifold is a power killer some port work to it would make some good gains in horsepower, mill the heads about.030 dual 36 mm power jets should help alot

For gearing , upper gear and bottom and the chain are the same as Arctic Cat....easy to find at dealer.
And its a good mod to have a good start, but less top speed............
