I'm having an issue with the tail light on my 300
With the headlight switch off I have brake light
Then when I turn on the headlight switch, the headlight comes on, but I have no tail light, or brake light
I looked under the dash and the harness doesn’t look butchered up (no electrical tape or splices)
Dose anyone have any hints, or a wiring diagram for a pull start 300??

Got the wiring diagram on the site, and you can also find the service manual on webman's site: http://www.jdsleds.com/tech/wiring/73wiring.jpg or http://www.vintagesnow.com/John_Deere.html
If the wiring looks intact, maybe a switch has been wired incorrectly? Check the wiring diagram against what you have hooked up to the light switch, brake switch, and tail light.

I am going to take a stab at this and say that you have lost the ground connection on the taillight housing. Black wire that goes the the tunnel from the rear light.

I have to agree with this from experience. Start with the ground connection and go from there.JDT wrote:I am going to take a stab at this and say that you have lost the ground connection on the taillight housing. Black wire that goes the the tunnel from the rear light.
