Mikuni carb jetting

Post by iceygears73 »

I just picked up a 1980 440 liquifire. The guy said that he had cleaned out the carbs but I am finding out his idea of clean and mine are different! I could see right away that the jets were going to be an issue since the pilot was chewed up from trying to be removed. My question is, does anyone know the origial size of the pilot and main jets.? There are no numbers on these and I figure I'll just replace them all. Thanks.

See the following post.

The post doesn't mention that the inlet needle is a size 1.2 (aluminum tiped). Mikuni still makes a 1.2, most power sport dealers will tell you they can't get them and substitute a 1.5 (which will work). I purchased several 1.2 inlet needles this summer.
