Re: Welcome Dick Teal
Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking around here for years without joining. I had to join to look at the sled with the scoop on the recoil side.
Some of the folks on the site know that we're putting together the history of snowmobiles at Deere from the beginning to the end. I mention this because I may need some help from time to time. Ed and Joe here in Horicon have been a great help but they don't have all of the pictures or answers that I may need. If I need something I will ask.
Things are coming together but it takes a lot of work and research. We've probably got 30,000 words or more written and we'll probably end up with at least 60,000 or more. I have all of Ed's pictures and I had a lot that most of you haven't seen and I've gotten more from other sources. The story will have appropriate pictures where they fit and that leaves out some that need to be preserved. We plan on having a photos only section that shows the development of the complete line of sleds from the beginning to the end in all stages of development.
Now that I've let the cat out of the bag please don't ask for more at this time. Hopefully I've given you enough to interest you so if I ask for something you'll know why.
Thanks for the kind words on clutching; i've written the story on how we developed the 102C clutch and the reverse secondary and it will be in the book along with all the other stuff that seems to still be working.
Keep the faith; the book will be out sooner or later.

Hey Dick
I had heard that this was in the works. In thinking about this, I can imagine that just getting the names and dates correct would require a huge amount of research.
Good luck, I applaud the effort.

Dick, thanks for joining, and thanks for the heads-up on the book!
You're the second person today to say they can't see posted pictures when not registered, and I didn't know that was the case. I must have changed a setting and didn't realize what I was doing. If I can find it I'll change it back so you don't have to be logged in.

You mean some people log off?? Anyway welcome aboard Dick, I'm sure you'll find it better now that you've become a member.
Do you have a picture of yourself from around "76" I want to try to figure out if I gave you as much sh*t as I did Lee before I talk to you in person again,
Kenny

Mr. Teal,
I have all the Arctic Cat history books along with many Deere Ag division books including "John Deeres's Company" by Broehl. A history of the Deere Snowmobile would be on the top shelf in that collection. Good luck on your project and look forward to a signed copy!
