Last week put in different stator from a Cyclone.
New exterior coils and new Hewtech CDI.
Have spark.Put engine back in sled, check for spark, still a go.
Try to start,no go,check for spark and none.
Am I missing something obvious, don't want to pull this thing apart again.
Kill switch has been cut by previous owners, tried with ignition switch disabled also.

Yes,brand new set,NGK.
Tried cranking again this morning, had spark for about 5 cranks.
Lost it on mag side first, then PTO side.
Suspect a ground problem.

JDMIKE8100,
I would start at the coils checking to see if all the mounting screws are clean, rust free and also that the grounding lead from each coil is clean and rust free. I would also check the grounding wire from the right side coil to the CDI box is clean and rust free. There should also be a copper strip mounted between the center of both coils.
If you are unsure of the condition of the stator mounting screws, remove the flywheel to inspect.

All coil conections were cleaned when new ones installed, copper strip is there.
Previous owner had a ground going from right coil to bolt on recoil.
Should there be a braided ground from right coil to CDI?

The coil ground wire attached to the bolt on the recoil should be attached to either one of the CDI box mounting bolts.
The ground cable was not a braided ground, just a heavy duty insulated wire with crimped on ends.

Moved the the coil ground to the CDI bolt.
Still no spark, thinking got to pull the motor again and recheck all the wiring.
This is giving my patience a good test.

you don't have to the pull the motor, it is possible to get the outer housing off in the sled.
