I'm still trying to decide if this thing is real. It looks "too good" to be a survivor. I would check it out thoroughly before paying the kind of money he's wanting. Just my humble opinion.

I suppose technically one could argue NOS parts have survived the test of time. Looks nice what ever it is.

It does appear to be nice but there are too many clues in my mind that tell me it is a restoration. Seems to me that on all the early Liquifires & Cyclones the inside of the bellypans were never completely painted. Everyone that I have had has always had bare aluminum showing on the inside that was not covered by the overspray. To me, that would be the biggest clue. I have several sleds that basically have no miles on them and are 100% stock and original. None of them look that good under the hood. The exhaust springs, nuts & bolts would all have at least some oxidation on them. Plus, have you ever seen an original '76 or '77 Liquifire or Cyclone that had perfect paint on the running boards?

i am just as much as a skeptic, i was hoping someone here had posted it to evilbay. i bought a pair of 77's 340 cyclone&300 that are in just as good of shape as the evilbay one. all i did was wipeclean. the smoke windshield is a tip of off tampering.

He had it for sale in the VS classifieds a couple weeks ago...and it was listed as a 1980 Cyclone

It does look nice though.

Robb hit all of the high points. Just too many things indicate a restoration. That said, it's a nice sled and perhaps well worth the money. I just can't by the "survivor" part of the ad and the seller's attitude in the narrative kind of turned me off.

The sled does look too nice to be factory paint, so maybe it was a resto a few owners ago? Hard to say, but even the paint on the tunnel reinforcement doesn't look rubbed off.

The auction is shown as ended with it selling for $1,600.00. Good price for a Cyclone. They seem to be rising in popularity lately.

In my opinion if the 77 went for 1600 than a similar condition 78 should be at least two grand.

ok so somebody bought the sled. questions to raise. where is the windshield from? i am correct that is a 340S?? and what about the strap on the seat? between about 10 cyclone/liquifires if seen in person none have ever had a strap. also upon closer look, the dicerning eye notices too much shine on lots of the paint. how about the snow flap cable. why have i never seen that on a cyclone/liquifire? am i a rookie or am i close?

The windshield is not a 340/S. The 340/S shield had a different mounting system. I'm guessing its just a short, smoked, Cyclone shield. The seat strap was used on some of the kawi powered sleds, but it seems some of the racers used them to help retain the seat on some of the earlier sleds.

The snow flap cables were used on the Kioritz powered race sleds, and were optional on the production sleds, Cyclone , Liquifires.

Oh yeah, and that sled was a survivor :lol22: :lol22: :lol22: :lol22: :lol22:
