Correct Battery for 1974 300

Post by Red »

I recently picked up a JD 300 that runs pretty well and needs some minor work to be trail ready. I'm looking to identify the correct size battery, the proper headlight, and taillight bulb for this sled and my JDX Special. I believe the lights are the same for both sleds. Thank you for your help.

I believe the battery number is U-1.
Cost about $30 at any farm supply store.
Head and tailight bulbs can be found at any auto parts store as they are both common.

Thanks for all of the replies. I thought the battery tray looked a little small for a motorcycle/atv battery. I'll try the battery out of my JD 111 tractor which is the U-1. Thanks again everyone.

Red,
You may find the terminals are on the wrong side but you can get a battery either way.
