77' 400

Post by goober1526 »

tuned it in after restoring the sled ran great. Had to replace voltage regulater with a used one, started up for a second then didn't get the choke pulled out fast enough and shut off. Didn't start again so I checked the plugs for spark nothing for both plugs. What do I start checking ??????

The first thing to do is unplug the white plug on the side of the fan tower and check for spark again. This will eliminate any issues with the chassis wiring harness. If one of the switches is bad and grounding out the system, you won't have any spark. The next thing to do is to start checking electrical components using the procedures listed here. http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewto ... ?f=5&t=289 Good Luck!

It may be that you flooded the engine out with the choke on and it fouled out the plugs.
Fouled plugs will not spark.
Try another set.

All good advice! If those suggestions don't come up with something the CDI box may have gone bad. If you have a known good CDI you can try swapping them out and see if it runs.
