Recently I tried to remove the secondary from my 340 Cyclone. Bolt was out when i got the sled (Mmmn?).Tried sliding it off. Didn't budge. Okay, maybe a little surface rust..I can deal with that by a little gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet. Still no movement. Okay a hammer and aluminum rod placed strategically around the hub and some tapping. Still stuck @##$$%. Okay now I'm getting a little preturbed. I get out the torch and apply some low heat. Tap again. Doesn't move at all! Mind you I have had PB Blaster in it for two days previous. I don't want to pound on it too hard for fear of bending or breaking something. I can't get a puller on it due to side panel being to close. I thought about putting my slide hammer on it but I can't get a straight pull due to limited access again.
So I go to my 440 Cyclone and take out bolt and simply slide the secondary off with virtually no effort!!! What the he11 is holding it on that shaft on the 340.!!??? Note they are both 1978's. I can't see inside to see if the key is jammed in wrong. That,besides rust is the only thing I can think that is holding it on. Am I missing something obvious here? Any idea's guys?

You may have to remove it jackshaft and all, and press the shaft out. There aren't a lot of options here.

When I run into this I tip the sled on the side & fill the hole with brake fluid let stand for a few days then try pounding off, if it still doesn move try the brake fluid for a few more days, if it still doesn't move then try Brian's method.. Only option left..

You might try Liquid Wrench if the brake fluid doesn't work. I had a JD tractor three point third link turnbuckle rusted together at one end; couldn't budge it with a pipe wrench and a vise. I filled the open end with that stuff. Thanks guys. I heard a mixture of acetone and ATF works well for frozen steel parts. I will definately put some never seez on after this adventure. After rescuing this sled out of the barn I doubt if this clutch has ever been off.

Came across an interesting article in one of the magazines I receive. The author was testing various fluids used as penetrating oils. He made a series of shafts and sleeves and corroded them in a salt bath solution. Using a compressometer, he applied known pressures in the attempt to separate the two parts. He tested WD-40, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, Kano Kroil, and a mixture of ATF and Acetone, soaking the parts for 12 hours.
It required 516 pounds pressure to break an untreated units. WD-40 238 lbs, PB Blaster 214 lbs, Liquid Wrench 127 lbs, Kano Kroil 106 lbs and the ATF/Acetone mix 53 lbs. The ATF/Acetone was mixed one part ATF to one part Acetone. I thought it a rather interesting bit of information for those of us who are always attempting to separate rusted chunks of metal. NOTE THIS MIXTURE IS FLAMMABLE AND HARMFUL TO SKIN. BE CAREFUL!!!
