1979 Polaris TXL

Post by JDXspec »

I just Bought a 1979 TXL 340. Does someone know where I could obtain a Nice hood and a good seat?

This one will get a mild restore namely the items above. This one has history in the Winnepeg I-500. Not only was it run in the 500 But it has WON the 500 in '79 It was raced by the same guy who raced my restored dator a couple yrs earlier. So I now have a nice set of race sleds. Pics will show when it gets home.

Well, I have had a couple polaris sleds before, just have never wanted to keep them. Had a 80 TXL very nice but had a bad eng and a 82 TXL indy nice eng but not so nice chassis. I spent a total of $25 and made some $ very quickly. I decided to focus on deeres because otherwise you end up with too many sleds :lol22: But this Polaris fits with my dator, so I can make room for it.

Any sled with race history is a nice find regardless of color.

Paul Matejka is the name. He and his brother (Loren) ran a fair amount of races. Hopefully Tabor will have some pics of Paul by the garage get together.

Lots of TXL's ran the USCC race last weekend.

A worthy project you have there.

Chris,
I did see soukup had the correct seat for the TXL just couldn't afford it yet. Too bad it wasn't as cheap as the one you missed at waconia. :wall: :naughty:
