i have a jlo eingine just the engine and i was wondering the year and what model it came out of how would i do this?

single or twin? The twins have the engine id tag on the frontside of the crankcase. The model number may get you close on finding the yr plus its all you need to get parts. Now asfar as the make jlo's were in all different kinds of sleds. Probably the only clues to what it came from would be found by seeing the motor mount maybe sombody would know or also the intake manifold as they had different types for diff sleds.

I know that the Massey Ferguson Ski Whiz's used JLO/Rockwell engines in their sleds. I think both singles and twins if i am not mistaken. They were late sixties early seventies.

yeah the masseys all had jlos, mine has a 400 twin. also ski-doo's used them too, there are some olimpiques and nordics at my grandpas farm from the 70's with jlos. i've also seen a homelite with a jlo single.

its a single carb twin cylander with a red clutch and on the pull start it said rockwell

JLO or pronounced ELO motors were used in many, many different snowmobile brands. From Arctic Cat to Allied to Trail-A-Sled(Scorpion) to Massey Ferguson to name just a few. Engine numbering should go something like this L295L, L372L, L292L, L252R, L297L

Also JLO's had names like JLO Rockwell Cuyuna
