need help with a ccw kec-340/5 engine

dose it matter wich piston go's where on my ccw kec-340/5 engine.a man who has been reparing engines for a long time told me that you cant put the right hand pistone in the left hand side becaues the rings would get cot in the ports is this true and if so how do you tell any information would help my email is capt_blood11@yahoo.com :needsnow: :letitsnow: :thinksnow: :sled: :winter: :usa:

The mechanic is partially right. In your case, the KEC-340/5 engine uses the same piston in both sides. But when you take an engine about and re-use the pistons, always put them back in the cylinder that they came from because of the wear patterns that had developed. The later style reed valve engines had differeent pistons on each side must be installed correctly.

In addition to what Pat said, Your piston port engine originally had arrows on the top of the pistons. You install the pistons so that the arrows point at the exhaust side of the engine. This is to index the rings properly in regard to the ports, avoiding the issue you mentioned. But Pat is correct, both pistons are the same part number, but should be put back into the jugs they came out of.
