what JD sleds would you like to get running for this winter?

i have a list of sleds that i would like to get running for this winter including my 77 liquifire 340, needs new crank seals and a seat cover, the JD 500 that was my uncles in the 70's needs a motor, the motors i have are shot, another nice JD 500 that i picked up from rainville needs motor rebuilt and the last would be the the JD Spit fire that needs a hood, seat cover, and motors switched out then i would have a different Deere to ride almost every day of the week haha

Well I would like to get my 295/S done this winter but it isn't looking good right now. Waiting on my painter to find some time to paint my tunnel and hood. I had the tunnel soda blasted so its just waiting for paint. Also I need to get the suspension parts blasted and painted or powdercoated. And I need to send the crank in and have Jerome go over it. I am pretty sure it is good but I want the peace of mind knowing that it is good. At least my 600 is treating me right. I whent through the whole sled last fall but the Bendix carb kept giving my fits. Finally it is running good. I wouldn't be afraid to ride it anywhere now. Plenty of other Deeres to work on, but untill they put another day in the week and give me a huge raise at work, all I can do is piddle around with them. I See you have developed the same problem I have. More sleds than you got time to work on.

oh man !! im feeling your pain , i do plan to get my 340/s out for a spin if we get enough snow to ride this next snow [tonight ] also im pretty stoked about getting my dator custom out for the first time is pretty well done got 5 kioritz motors to put together for sleds torn about. less time than money and im broke !!!! wade

This whole thing started when I decided to hang out here looking for info. At the time I was mearly planning to restore my original 76 Liquifire. I got it running and next thing you know I am dragging home one Deere after the other. Then this 295/S found me and everything else got put on hold. If I ever find a Dator... I don't know what will become of me. Most likely I will be divorced and living under a bridge. Curse those Deere Race Sleds. They have been the ruin of many a good man. :0 Wade hope you get the snow you want. It has been good around here this year.

I have my first going for the yr. New crank seals, clutch tuning, susp lubricated, John recovered the seat, fuel system gone though. I have it running well and it even looks good. It was more work than I first thought but its worth it.

I just hope to get the the coil wire I cut for the 3rd time on my 76 LF back together, and then maybe start up my 77 300 that I flooded back in Nov.......been pretty lazy this winter, but I do need something to run on the relic runs coming up and the LF would likely be the best choice anyway....but I do have an 80 LF that I'm itching to try it just needs a couple of idler wheels for the top shaft....

very cool sleds guys, thanks for sharing the pics, they are calling for 5-8 " in a winter storm that's suppose to hit tonight from 7pm to 7pm tomarrow evening so hopefully I'll be able to get the F7 out again i did get a new seat for my liquifire i found it in the garage and forgot i got a couple years ago lol i am really hoping to get it all tuned in for the triathlon Feb 12Th i think that would be pretty cool, i got word of a JD spitfire that's gonna be attending it as well its a 1/3 mile clay banked corners etc....

the 84 liquifire... Aint going to happen but I would like too. Hood and side panels are at the shop but the engine and the rest sits in "440" pieces on the shop floor. Hopefully next year.

got some more work done tonight, got everything bolted in, and hooked up, as well as i switched the temp gauges, cleaned the carbs, replaced the kill switch housing, tomarrow i gotta fiberglass the inside of the hood hinge, bolt the seat down, fluids, and hook up the teather switch and she'll be ready to take for a spin then any final tuning for this sat i am planning on taking it to the whiteville grass drags, and if i have time i might give her a little hand polishing

Ive been working on 80 liquifire i installed a kawi invader or whatever name that was in last weekend need to hook up all the wires etc. Get started on 78 440 liq paint removal motor runs great. Snowfire i have need to replace hood and seat i have nos ones for that and clean up. 80 Sport replace hood and install nos chrome shocks! just for you DA. So much work so little time! whell not much snow so might as well wrench! Shannon

picked up a good kec 440 today off from a guy, has crazy compression, and spark seems week need to clean the points, other then putting a clutch on it, cleaning the carb, and fuel system she is ready to bolt in and hook everything up and clean it up more and polish the tunnel, hood and pan She'll be all set
