1981 El Tigre 6000

My dad is junking his 81 El Tigre, and I want to take it off his hands...if I can find room. 5 years ago, The primary blew off part of it's spider, and the off balance locked up the engine. This sled was built to drag race, and I think it has potential. The track is perfect w/ 96 studs, the engine was overbored w/ 38mm mikunis, and it has a race pipe from the 80's. It's geared better, and the frame is welded in spots so it won't twist. Is there a good parts source for some of the hard to find parts? I.E. decals, different engine, gas tank, radiator, and other random parts? DK and the other aftermarket guys have the basics, but the 81 6000 seems to be obscure as far as a lot of the parts. It must have had a little different makeup than it's predecessors. I haven't seen it since he sent it to his mechanic, and I don't have a good picture in my head of what the sled looks like under the hood, and I'm not a cat man, all I know is it used to be a race sled, and we've had it since I can remember. Where is a good cat resource?

Try RV Sports in Thief River Falls. Randy that owns it worked a lot of years for Cat. This past winter they told me they were doing a lot of restro parts sales both from their inventory and other sources. Think I remember Certified Parts had most of the factory inventory after Cat went bust in early 80's.
