hey guys. i have a busted blade on my fan. is it a good idea to get the fin welded back on and balanced like a outboard? is there another fan i can use? very hard to find parts in Northern Ontario.
Any advice would be great.

Re: Jd300 fan
It is made from cast an I do not know if it can be welded. I kind of doubt it.
That being said a used on should be easy to come by.

Re: Jd300 fan
i ended up buying a used cover and fan off ebay. also lucked out and bought 2 machines just down the road from me for $200. one has another k295 and the other is a kec440/21. that one is seized and has broken plugs in the head. That maybe my later on project. when i get the kohlers running strong.
i sent the broken one to a guy in town that fixes props. he figures he should have no problem making it work.
i'm not use to working on 2 stroke, so on the kohler do i need reeds on the intake side?

Re: Jd300 fan
No on the reeds.
The Kohler is a psiton port engine.
I would by new crank seals for the engine.
The 440/21 engine was from a 73 JDX8 originaly.
Is that what the second sled is?

Re: Jd300 fan
Hey Todd. I have a gasket/seal kit coming from MFG so i'll fix that up. the 440/21 is in a 75 300 too. after buying these 2 sleds the neighbor down the road let me know that he has a JDX6 and JDX8 that i can have. he also has a few carbs kicking around. Boy the wife is going to love me now. NOT. i want to restore one 300 to original if possible and then tackle the JDX8 maybe. The 440/21 is seized up but i have diesel in the cylinders, so it should free up one of these days.
Thanks again Todd
