Never was much of a fan of KwikTrip gas, but just happened to be at one recently.
Their "Top Tier" 89 octane gas has NO Ethanol.
I'm guessing that in the long run, I'm probably better off using that than
91 octane with 10% ethanol???
Is ethanol also bad for crank seals?
I know that WI & MN have KwikTrip, any facts or opinions you'd like to share?
I've searched old topics on ethanol & did not see one like this
(really hoping it's not a repeat)
KwikTrip gas 89oct -no ethanol vs. 91 w/10%???

I don't use ethanol and use red bottle gasoline anti - freeze as needed. The stuff is simply too corrosive.
The current form of corn based ethanol is going to disappear because world demand for food will soon overwhelm the political foundation supporting it's production.

Indeed they are, but the gig is up because the subsidies are too expensive given the world demand for corn as food. Corn ethanol had to be mandated and subsidized when the price was $2 a bushel; it's currently triple that figure and taxpayers are on the hook for the difference.
I didn't mean to hijack this thread, but the quality or value of ethanol as an energy source will never improve when mandates and taxpayer wealth are used to promote it's production.

you might want to check on the no ethanol in the 89oct fuel....At my local kwik trip the 91oct fuel is advertised as recreational fuel with no ethanol added.

Our local Kwik-Trip has one special pump for the 91 octane 'recreational use' without that nasty ethanol. We also have a Shell station that advertises ethanol free premium.

I've ran 89 ethanol gas in my 83 trailfire for over 5000 miles with no problems. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Ever once and awhile I'll put premium in it if I'm going to ride a lot of railroad grades and rivers.

Back in the 80's when ethonal first appeared at gas pumps every manual said do not use it.
Cars, lawn mowers, whatever.
But after 30 years that has quited down.
