1979 trailfire CDI Box

Post by Mcolli »

Hey does any one out there know how to test a CDI box off a 1979 trailfire to see if it is good or bad. Appreciate it if I could get the ohm rating on it, but if there is other tests out there i'm open to suggestions.

You can't test a CDI without specialized equipment, so the best you can do is test everything else. If you lost spark on one side or the other, it could be a bad coil, and you can swap them to see if the problem changes sides to confirm. You can test the stator with a meter, here is how: http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewto ... f=6&t=7303. If the stator checks out fine, then check any ground wires for bad connections before replacing the CDI.

Checked out all the connections and found them good along with all the other electrical items and have determined the cdi box is bad. So then it comes about it that I ask is there anyone who knows the 1979 cdi trailfire part number for it and also if anyone knows where i can get a cheap reliable cdi box replacement.
