Well after a trip over to Rich Acres, I got the parts I needed to finish my brothers JD 400, I pulled the carb off to bring it home and do the old boil trick which works great for me. Only to find out that everything is so froze up that it cant be used. I have 1 more day to get this sled back together and running, and I have my brothers black JDX 4 with the bendix carb on it as well. Can I just pop the one off that sled for now until I get the other apart.
Also what are the carb settings on these bendix carbs for the 400 CCW Engine
Thanks

I’m sure you know what you’re doing but a word of caution here! ………Unlike the round slide Mikuni’s
These old Bendix and especially Walburo carbs have small parts that will not tolerate harsh chemicals or heat.
The manuals have some good info on this
Just my 2 cents

Yeah they do, the walbros especially, when I boiled a walbro, I stripped it down to just the metal, tossed it in with a bit of dawn dish soap and distilled water, brought the water to a boil, then reduced it to simmer, dropped the carb in 3 hours later I had a squeaky clean carb. Put it all back together, ive never had a cat purr so nicely. The vinegar route doesnt work and stinks the house up. But dawn dish soap is quite the amazing stuff. All I did after was rinse and air dry.
For the jets and other little stuff, I have just a sonic jewlry cleaner, Put a bit of dawn and hot water in it, turn it on for 30 mins and boom squeaky clean.
Both these JDs have the bendix carbs on them
