'73 600 Compression.

Post by daveroy »

Hi guys, me again. Finally got back to working on the sled, but not making much progress.

I got the carb cleaned up and all but she still wont fire. (good spark too!). So I went back to basics.. I have spark. While I had both plugs out I stuck my thumb over the plug hole and pulled it over... cylinder one - cant keep my thumb over the whole, preasure farts it right off. Cylinder two on the other had is very week. So my question is this, does either piston have an unloader valave for starting/low rpm? Or am I looking at rebuilding the engine cause Cylinder two is shot?

(I hope that makes sense)

THanks
Dave

Sounds like your going to have to tear it down and see what is going on in there.

Brian,

I was afraid that was the case. Any ideas where I can get the maint. manual?

There is a link here somewhere to the web version.
If you want a paper version they are available from Deere, ebay, or possibly someone here.

There is no decompression valve on the CCW engine.

Maybe as simple as rings , gaskets and seals.
Could be a piston also.

Complete tear down is the way to go.
