1974 JDX6 Bad Bog

My 74 JDX6 has a bad bog when you hit the throttle. If you hold the throttle is boggs down and then goes. If you give the throttle a quick jerk and let it off and hit it again it goes good and there is no bog. Could this be a sticky clutch or do I have carb problems. The carb was broken when I got it so I found a WDA-33 and put it on. Will this carb be OK or do I need a different carb?

Have you taken the carb completely apart and throughly cleaned it?
