HELP!Wanted: 1972 John Deere Snowmobile Parts

Post by jeffreyrempel »

HI everyone, I have been unsuccessful in finding these parts that I need to finish my 1972 400 restoration:

-CCW KEC 340 Engine
-Salsbury 780 Clutch/Primary Drive Sheeve and matching Secondary Driven sheeve
-Instrument Panel, Console/Top Access Door, glove box/door/hinge

If you can help, let me know what you have and how much of my $$$$ you want.

Thanks,
Jeff
I can pay by paypal.

Jeff,
I have a couple of instrument panels, and some doors. I would like $15 for the parts plus shipping. Does it matter if the holes are cut out for the gauges or not. I think I have one with the speedo opening cut out, and one with both openings cut out. I sold the one I had with no openings cut out, just yesterday. Let me know if interested.

I will take the (either one) instrument panel(M63373) if it is in good condition. I will be using both the speedometer and tachometer anyway, I just need to be sure it is the correct one.
The way to tell is by looking at where the instrument panel mounts to the power module. The mounting tabs should be the same size on both sides of the instrument panel, so that it is compatable with power module(AM52320).
What doors do you have?

Keep in mind that much of the '72 stuff is particular to '72. The newer parts will fit, but if you want it correct, you'll want the correct parts.

I will check the panels tonight on the mounting configuration. The doors I was referring to would be the glove box doors.

Brian is correct! Everything I need is unique to 1972, and I want to stay original. There are so many small differences from 1972, and there are parts that were only made for the one year, so they are hard to come by in good shape. For this reason, I have purchased every NOS part I have come accross. If anyone has parts, I will put them to good use. It will be a beautiful sled when I am done.
Thanks again to everyone who has already helped me with parts, I appreciate your kindness.

When liquidatorkid posted the pictures of his spitfire in the boneyard there was also a picture of a 72 sled, it had the engine shroud and dash. Scroll down a few pictures and you will see it sitting next to that jacked up spitfire.
