80 Trailfire 340 drive bearings

Post by T_Yeti »

Doing some work on one of ManitobaTrailfire's sleds and have some reference info on aftermarket parts.

Replaced drive and idler bearings. Mid-Canada Bearings @ 1040 Coulter Ave. in Winnipeg supplied the following:
Drive shaft bearings: NTN AEL205-100D1 (Mid-Canada #AEEL205-100D1-)
Rear idler bearings: RBL 6205-2BR-LT (Mid-Canada #LT-6205-2RS-E)
Top idler bearings: Amcan 99502H (Mid-Canada #99502H-A)

Drive bearings have hole in outer race for grease needle. O-ring on splined/chain side was replaced with generic o-ring from NAPA.

Rear idler bearings are snowmobile-specific and packed with low-temp grease (LT designation in part number).

All bearings were somewhat cheaper than those available at local sled parts supplier/s. Total invoice for 6 bearings & 1 o-ring < CDN$50 incl. taxes.

R&R was necessitated by a broken track and is being upgraded to a Liquifire track & drive shaft/cogs.
As a bonus, neither idler shaft was *excessively* frozen, nor were they bent, so removal, clean-up, grease, re-install procedure was straightforward.
