76, 80 liquifire drive shaft differences

Post by mbsledhead »

Well, to start off, I blew the track apart on my 76 liquifire, caused by the slide rail. Both rails are twisted into pretzels and the track is torn with a couple of cleats missing. Now I was curious if an 80 liquifire drive shaft, will bolt right in. If the dimensions were the same I would intall an 80 liquifire drive shaft along with the 80 skidframe and rubber track. If not I'll start searching for another 76 skidframe and track. Some input on my situation would be helpful.

i also blew my track. for some reason it is suppose to stay on the bottom side of the skids :bonk: .maybe i'm wrong, which i will soon find out. bu cross referenced and found that a JDX6 track has the same part # but the skid frame seems to be different.

I honestly think you'd have better luck finding a 76-77 suspension and a track. I have a couple of tracks but it would be way to expensive to ship there. Just saying I think the track would be easy to find. Much easier than using an 80 LF. Doesn't that have three drivers??

With the drive shaft, track, and suspension, yes you can swap everything. I think you will need to drill new holes in the tunnel for the suspension.

The JDX, Cyclone, and 1st Gen Liquifire all use the same track. The original track is full width cleat, of which most of these tracks came apart early, and the Deere replacement and aftermarket version is 2/3 cleat.

the 80 LF track is shorter 116" VS 121 in the 76. AND the drive pitch between the tracks are different too- 2.52 VS 3.29

The pitch difference is the deal breaker.

The Cyclone / Liquifire skid is ( in my opinion ) superior to the JDX skid.

Well guys, I found a 78 cyclone locally with a track and skidframe in it so I'll be swapping that over to the liquifire. Thanks for all the input.
