e-clip found in flywheel--again

Post by gnfreak »

hi all. i picked up another 340fa engine for parts. upon disassembly i found 3/4 of a e-type clip stuck to the magnets in the flywheel. weird thing is that i also found a partial e-clip on the first kohler 340fa that i redid last november. looking to the parts catalogue, the only e-clip in this vicinity is for the recoil posts. just seems odd that two 79 motors were like this. the first one had some damage to the wiring covering from this clip moving around inside there. still works but i'm thinking about swapping out the stators. as far as i can tell there is no e-clip used on the stator. any ideas??
