A real raced sled....

Well is is not green but has some green on it.
I am working on a 75 Z Cat. It is a actual raced sled.
Has the slide lube system on it and it only shows wear from turning left.
I do not know the history at all but it is genuine non the less.
Track is very rough but the rest will fly.

I think this is a '75, correct? Sharp looking machine. This was at the Elkland, PA show years ago.

Yes Matt, that is a 75.

Mine didn't have a seat on it when I got it and as the last Z seat I saw on ebay two years back went for $800.oo.
It will sport a generic seat similar to the original.

I have it completey stripped down as of tonight and will start the cleaning and assestment tomorrow.
I will post a picture of a large pile of parts for you DA.

I have a few repairs to make to the chassis before rebuild begins.

The rear suspension skid frame is turning out to be a real project.
I have freed up both stuck cross shafts, located new upper idler wheels(good old MCM), welded up all cracks in both alum and steel parts and located a few key parts from some Cat racing guys.
I sand blasted all the suspension parts and they have been primed and painted.
Now I know what you Dator guys go through. These Z parts are hard to find and spendy.

Rebuilt suspension installed today.

Only a few things left to do.

These skis are only 4" wide in order to save weight.
Stock on the "Z".

Todd, Todd, Todd....is that a rusty headed bolt I see in the first picture? Actually it's a cool project, congrats.

DA I see you went out and bought that 36" display screen for your PC.

While it it a fact that I replaced every nut, bolt, washer ect on the rear skid I did reuse the six bolts that mount it to the chassis.

No comment on the track?

I did end up replacing the original track as it had issues with the two outside belts. I stripped my track and added the good pieces to the replacement.
These tracks are super rare and were only used on the 72 EXT and the 75 Z. I used over 350 rivets.

Oh my gosh I missed the track completely. For those of you out there wanting to do a restoration please make a note of this. This is how a professional works!!! Todd you never cease to amaze me with your talent.
