The model would be helpful though many of the parts you want fit all models except the 340/S.

It's a 300. With all of the parts I need it's probably not a good financial decision to restore this sled, but it's been in the family since it was new. So.......

You're correct in that if you had gone out and bought this sled it probably would be too costly to restore. However, when it comes to a sled with a long history that changes things a little. Will see if we have anything for you.

I've seen seat skins on eBay, and a few other places.....not sure of quality.
I have the original seat and the foam seems to be completely in tact, although deteriorated. I have done foam before on a more recent Polaris with a lot more lines/angles and it came out well. So I'm not afraid of doing the work. I'll check out John's stuff, though.

genuine nos has dimmer switches for arctic cat switches that will work great BUT dont have the correct face caps on them they are very functional as ive used a ton of them but arent completely correct for the jd sleds nos ones or even good used ones are tough to find .he is a seller on ebay and advertizes on vintage sleds they will also work for a kill switch if wired correctly but once again arent pretty red but otherwise fit and work perfectly

Good luck with the 300, I have a ’75 300 also and I was surprised how much umph it had once all the bugs were worked out(good wood hauler for me). Lemme tell you a bad head gasket sure cuts the horsepower down (hehe). The recoil rebuild was lots of fun once I found a new spring and l looked at the exploded parts diagram. Turns out the previous owner somehow put the recoil spring in arse backwords(and upside down), and after spending hours trying to put it back in the same way it came apart I gave up and googled it. Oh and if your gonna rebuild the recoil…change the rope…I didn’t the first time and after pull 5 or 6 it broke and I had to do it all over again.

Just curious if you use the primer at all when starting your machine? I just pull out the choke and give her 3 pulls and she usually catches. Priming seems to just flood the bejesus out of the old girl.(even a half pull)

I haven't started it yet!!!!!! It has been in my extended family since it was new, but I never went near it until now. For some reason it all-of-a-sudden looked good to me, and deserved to be brought back. Otherwise it hasn't run in 2 yrs and was destined to rot on the edge of a hay field. So, we'll see. I'll be sure to post before and after pictures, and probably a few in between.
