Decal Resto

Post by mainejd »

I recently looked into buying new decals for my sled. I found the normal JD decals, but no one had the Vin/Serial # decals. Mine was trashed, so i decided to do some resto work on my laptop.
First I peeled it off the sled with a razor, and scanned it to my computer. Then I used an artwork program to piece it back together. It's not perfect, but it looks a lot better than it did.
If anyone is interested in seeing the results I'll email the "before and afters". I tried to do it here but was unable.

The best way to get a picture on here is to upload it to a photo sharing site, such as photobucket, flickr, ect. Once the photo is uploaded to their site you can post the address on this site and the photo apears. Flicker calls it grabbing the bbcode.

I kept the original corners of the decal and overcompensated the edges so that when I cut it, the edges will look fresh.

I guess I didn't look around enough. All things considered, $27 isn't a bad deal.

The build date (Date of MFG) is 75, which would make it available for the 76 model year. Most people not familiar with Deere's will make the same assumption.

Pretty much across the board next years model production started in June.

If you every run across a machine produced in March or April chances are it was a pre-production/prototype/display machine and may be unique.

Just something to keep in mind.
