Jdx 4 is alive

Post by sknap83 »

I recently got a 1974 jdx 6 that was a barn find. This is my second jdx 6. It has 960 original miles on it. It has been in the barn since 1976. It came from the original owner. Very nice sled. I brought it home and cleaned the rust outa the tank. Put it backtogether and for the heck of it checked to see if it has spark. 5 minutes later it was running. Sould I even worry about the case seals in it or just run it?

You only need to replace the seals if you plan on running it, and you'd rather not burn it down. Otherwise go ahead. :beers;

Wade nailed it, the fan belt is another often overlooked item. They are probably as old as the sled, and the pulleys are often rusty, not a good combination for belt life.

If you look in the FAQs, there are several good posts to get you started.
