1979 340 SPITFIRE, cylinder piston/flywheel puller question?
Hi guys, I recently just bougt a spitfire i was told it was a 1979 but do not know for sure. The engine is a (340) and one of the pistons has a hole in it. One of my questions is does anybody know where i can find a piston and rings, i have looked around for awhile now and am having a hard time finding parts. Also does any one know where i might find a speical tool to pull of the clutch?... or is there also a way to do it without it?...Thanks for your time guys, i started messing arond with jd sleds when i was about 16 now i am 24. It does feel good to be wrencing on other one thanks guys for you time!........

I was also wondering would a trailfire 340 piston work for a 340 spitfire?

78-79 are green, 80-82 were black. If you look on the right side of the tunnel there should be a build date, add one year to the build date to get the model year.
If it's a 79 and it still has the Kohler engine you can get a set of rings on Ebay. There are some listed on there right now, 161 sets available according to the listing.
I have a good used piston if you want a used one. It comes with the wrist pin, needle bearing and circlips. $10 plus shipping.

Hi thank you for the reply. Well i figured out by looking at the engine that it is 80-82. The engine is made by kawasaki,(heavydutie industries) I found a pistion and rings off of ebay. What years is your piston for?My bore is a 60mm and the stroke is a also 60mm. Thanks matt

The ones I have are for the 78-79 models with the Kohler engine.
