these are 40mm non powerjet carbs, and the motor will spin 9000 to 9200 rpm, with twin open pipes. from the way the motor was built and what we are using it for i dont think 40s are too big. but i could be wrong.

Dis,
If you taper bore 38 mm carbs to match the slide, your 38's will flow better than 40's will.
thanks,
Kenny

Kennys right, 38s will work much better. If your going to run the Kawi up over 9000 rpm, get a broom and dust pan ready...

40s might be okay on a drag sled but you will get much more corner to corner throttle response with 36 or 38s. Peter

my teammate has been spinning his 440 fan (kawi) at 9600-9750 rpm for 2 seasons and havent touched the motor. thats no sh!t! hey peter do you say this cuz of all the fuel sloshing arroun in the bowls?

The bigger the venturi, the weaker the signal to draw fuel up from the needle jet. An example is. One 1000 Pro-Stock engine uses 44mm carbs and uses 720 main jets, another one uses 56mm carbs and needs 960 main jets. Both make a pass down the track and use the exact same amount of fuel. Why? The smaller carbs will be faster to the 1/8 mile and the bigger faster from the 1/8 to the end of the track. Which is better? Depends what you want to do. Peter

Disfunctional. Why would you spin a 440 fan at 9500 RPM?

now i understand peter, thanx for explaining the carb thing to me. i apreciate your input!
and as for my teammates 440faner, if the motor is built for it and thats where it creates the most power why not spin it up that far?
