Wanted- carb door for '75-'77 300

Post by EricR »

My carb door disappeared off the sled on the highway somewhere between the town of Upsula and Little Falls, Mn last January while on the trailer.

I know one from a 400/800 etc will interchange, but if I get one for a 300 it will have the right decals on it, right?

Not in a hurry, don't wanna drop a hunk of cash, scratches and belmishes are OK, it just gets REAL LOUD with that Mikuni suckin' air in in the open. :bonk:

Sled in in mid MN and I'd need it mailed. Willing to trade a sugared up four year old with defiance issues.

Thanks Don-

The console door is part M65104 with hardware per this diagram if the link works-

http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com. ... odel=j300E

I was up in "Gods Country" as I refer to my ancestral homeland of Minnesota last week on a family vacation. Pulled the 300 and the Ski Doo out of the shed they live in and cleaned them up, unfortunately they had to be put away covered in road salt and snow from riding them when I was up in January last year, no way to clean them in the winter at dad's.

I spent an hour on the 300 with a can of spray gunk under the hood, a hosedown, and soapy water wash on the outside, then I scraped the old registration numbers off and went over the hood with Meguiar's "plastix" which I find is good for lots more than just windshields. By the way, it made my original windshiled actually see through again. Then both machines got the skis wire brushed (on the sled, gotta do what you can with limited time and resources) and hit with some "extend" rust converter, then a couple coats of Hardware Hank gloss black rust stop enamel. Probably not as good as a disassemble, sand blast, and real two part paint but much better than the rust!

Then a quick spin around the yard on the grass. :needsnow:

The torn seat got pulled off (naturally, there was some rot and the T nuts spun in the wood) and dropped off at Val's upholstery near Melrose MN on a recommendation from a guy on another board re doing a 300 that had his seat done there. No, won't be the OE texture but will be nice flexible snowmobile vinyl. The guy does tons of Rupp seats as well.

Eric, didn't realize how far along we were in scrapping the 300. All console stuff is gone already, sorry. Can anyone else help Eric?

The door your referring to, should be item number 4 in the pic, is that correct? I don't think I have any left either, but I will take a look tonight.

I guess my offer of the sugared up four year old scares most off!

When I was at Waconia I found a couple consoles no doors, they seem to get lost like mine did. I imagine it's in four thousand parts now after being run through a disc mower on the road side somewhere. Or like my camera I must have left on the car roof last week, splinters of plastic on MN71 near Little Falls.

Just FYI for you guys trying to find carb access panels with the correct model tags for specific sleds, those model tags are avamible from jdsleddecals.com for around $20. They aren't perfect, but they are pretty close and they look nice. I wasn't sure if you guys were aware of this or not.

Mitch and Eric
I think I have a couple extra. Plain black, no decals. I'll see what I have and will bring to Princeton. Mitch, I have to pick up something from you anyway.

DL Deere, is there any way I can buy one from you from afar, and have you mail it to my folks in central MN? Not too many swap meets down in Georgia.
