WTB or trade

Post by jdsledhead »

Hey guys,

I am looking to start working on my final projects again. First to go on the saw horses is my 84 snowfire. I have the tunnel in the reassembly stage, but there are still some parts that I need. I have a decent amount of NOS parts for most generations of Deere sleds, so I could partial trade depending on the situation. Here is a list of what I know I need:

-windshield (cannonclassics?)
-decals (I think someone was working on repop's? Frank maybe?)
-engine mounts (rubber)
-front bumper (I will consider a used one if it is straight)
-front bumper spacers? white plastic...
-mono leaf springs (any mono leaf part # will do)
-ski shocks
-gas tank (I have a NOS tank for a Sprintfire I am willing to trade for)
-gas cap? ... just putting it out there :-)
-seat (if I can't find one I will end up buying a cover, but this is a full resto so NOS would be nice)
Let me know what you have!

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

Cannon Classic Sleds makes a windshield for that sled.
I had www.jdsleddecals.com reproduce the full decal set for the '84 Snowfire and they are spectacular.
I have NOS rubber engine mounts
I have used mono-leaf springs
Seat.....well.

Tim,
The fuel tanks are the same. Only the sticker on the door is different. I thought I taught you better, LOL!
I have the spacers...somewhere...NOS even...

Robb,

Thanks for confirmation on the decals and windshield. Also, yesterday while nosing through my NOS stuff I found a set of motormounts, so I can check that off the list. I also have used leafs, hoping to find NOS by the time I need them. I will get the whole sled done minus the seat and send you a picture of it, then maybe we can talk? :-)

Joe,

I would have thought since the snowfire is essentially a spitfire that it would use a tank more similar to it - meaning no cutout for an oil tank... Also, going through the parts from the sled, it appears the white spacers might be fine to reuse, but that doesn't mean I won't hunt for them next time I visit you.

So, I started doing more work on the sled last night and discovered my handlebars are bent. So I need a straight pair if someone has some.

AND one last thing - What is the difference between the secondary clutch on the sprintfire to the snowfire? spring and helix? I'm sure I could look it up in the parts book but I'm too lazy right now.

So I have done a little more work and it turns out I might need a new rear arm for the suspension. The one off the snowfire has the shaft siezed in it pretty bad, and in the process of trying to remove it I managed to break a weld. - If I can get the shaft out without destroying the rest of the arm I will have it rewelded, but the investment of time and money to do that will probably out weight finding a "new" rear arm. I removed the suspension from the parts sprintfire I have, but the rear arm is bent. Anyone have one for sale?

The front arm also has badly siezed shafts, which I will play with getting free, but if anyone is willing to part with a good front arm please let me know!

Also, I figured out the secondary clutch is the same for the snow and sprintfire part for part EXCEPT for the "hub" which is the helix side sheave. - I'm not sure what the difference would be, but I have several NOS sprintfire clutches so I guess I'll find out!
